WHO WE ARE

The AFF Foundation aims to unlock America's full capacity for innovation.

We work to engage all of America in the frontiers of innovation in order to create a more prosperous future.

our approach

The AFF Foundation aims to unlock America’s full capacity for innovation across the entire nation.

We focus on catalyzing new ideas and policies, training skilled workers, building regional innovation hubs, shaping global partnerships with U.S. allies, and driving alignment between policy makers, founders, scientists, and funders through convenings.

OUR FOCUS

We are in a great-power race that will shape the future. To win, we must engage all of America in the fight.

1

National Innovation Strategy

America lacks a cohesive vision for winning the global tech race and must urgently develop a national strategy that leverages our collective ingenuity to maintain its leadership in frontier technologies.

OUR APPROACH
OUR APPROACH
We bring together America’s top public, private, and philanthropic institutions to coordinate on a national agenda that seeks to accelerate the pace of innovation in critical technology areas.
2

World-Class
R&D

Universities and national labs have made technology transfer exceedingly difficult, walling off potential breakthroughs from the commercial markets and leaving untold IP on scientists’ workbenches in the process.

OUR APPROACH
OUR APPROACH
We invent new ways to measure and track R&D productivity across the country while pairing commercialization experts with leading universities and national labs to bring breakthroughs to market.
3

Skilled Workforce

As innovation and reshoring begins to create good jobs in critical industries, employers are scrambling to find skilled talent as a result of lethargic and underperforming public education and workforce systems.

OUR APPROACH
OUR APPROACH
We identify and scale innovative, rapid upskilling and reskilling programs that help low-income Americans access career pathways in critical industries that provide lasting upward economic mobility.
4

Robust Industrial Base

Thirty years of offshoring have left America without an industrial commons, including the advanced manufacturing capabilities needed to turn promising R&D into prototypes and ultimately scaled production.

OUR APPROACH
OUR APPROACH
We develop novel research insights and surfacing policy recommendations to reshore American manufacturing, secure our supply chains, and marry industrial-scale production with frontier technologies.
5

Vibrant Tech Hubs

The vast majority of investment capital that is catalytic to innovation is highly concentrated in just a small handful of coastal cities, despite significant potential in often overlooked regions.

OUR APPROACH
OUR APPROACH
We support community-based stakeholders in emerging tech hubs across the American Heartland in forming the necessary ecosystems and attracting investment capital to fuel innovation and reap its economic benefits.
6

Global Partnerships

Traditional diplomacy and development efforts tend to lack the expertise necessary to fully leverage technological innovations in order to address pressing global challenges.

OUR APPROACH

We serve as the leading platform for tech diplomacy, leveraging America’s rich heritage of innovation to foster international goodwill and solve pressing global issues through critical digital infrastructure.
